Turkish Delight, or “Loukoum” (means “contentment of the throat” in Turkish) is a delicately flavoured, soft confectionery that has been produced in Turkey since the 15th century. It was introduced to the west when an unknown Englishman became very fond of the sweet during his travels and had cases of it shipped back home from Istanbul. He shipped it under the name, Turkish Delight, which is how we know and love it today.

Manuka Honey and Blackcurrant 250g
Indigenous New Zealand Manuka honey is well known for its antibacterial properties and ours is no exception. It is gathered from the pristine reaches of The Marlborough Sounds and its purity is a given. Blackcurrant, high in Vitamin C and antioxidants, is lovingly combined with honey in our gentle cooking process to retain all of their restorative properties. A treat for the taste buds and a boost for the body’s defenses.

About Manuka Honey: Most honeys are antibacterial in some respect. This antibacterial ability is mostly derived from Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2), which comes from an enzyme, added by the bee. In the honey industry this is called "Peroxide Activity". Peroxide activity is delicate and unstable and can be easily destroyed by heat, light and water. In Manuka honey there is another antiseptic agent that is much more robust than hydrogen peroxide and which can remain active against certain bacteria after being exposed to heat, light and water. It makes New Zealand Manuka honey unique.
Pomegranate Delight 250g
Pomegranate was widely cultivated throughout the Mediterranean and Turkish Delight played an integral part in many festive social gatherings. The sharp notes from the vibrant pomegranate complement the thick softness of the sweet ‘delight’ to provide a wonderful feast for the eyes as well as the mouth. More recently Pomegranate has become known for its high levels of antioxidants and vitamin C. These properties are preserved in our gentle cooking process. Enjoy a fresh taste from an exotic, distant past.
