About Keshi Pearls
Keshi pearls are beautiful, irregular shaped gems that are formed when the host shellfish rejects the implanted nucleus before the culturing process is complete. Without the nucleus to guide its shape, the pearl develops freeform instead of in the usual uniform sphere. The non-beaded keshi pearl is 100% nacre which gives it an especially lustrous and shimmering surface quality. Although relatively rare, keshi pearls are formed by accident and are a by-product of the pearl culturing industry.
